Join us this Tuesday evening as Year 12 and 13 students from across Southland share their ideas, and bring the Rotary Four-Way Test to life through public speaking.
Students from St Peter’s College, Verdon College, Southland Boys’ High School and Southland Girls’ High School will present their speeches at the Southland Regional Final of the Rotary Speech Competition on Tuesday evening.
With no lunch meeting this week, members are invited to come along for an evening of Rotary connection and to support Year 12 and 13 students as they develop their public speaking skills through the Rotary Secondary School Speech Competition.
The competition is based on students presenting a five-to-six-minute speech on a topic of their own choice, with the principles of the Rotary Four-Way Test woven throughout their presentation.

Time: 7.00pm–8.30pm
Venue: Level 6, Kelvin Hotel
A panel of three judges will select the winning student, who will go on to represent Southland at the Grand Final in Dunedin on 15 September 2026.
This is an opportunity to hear the voices of young people in our community and support them as they build confidence, communication skills and leadership potential.

The Rotary Club of Invercargill is financially supporting the costs of hosting the regional final and providing prizes for the winner and runner-up.
The District will support the winning student with a contribution towards travel costs to Dunedin. The District is also supporting with cash prizes for first, second and third place at the Grand Final.
Bring a friend, family member or work colleague along to be part of the audience, support the young speakers and celebrate the values of Rotary in action.
Tea and coffee will be provided on Level 6. Alternatively, feel free to purchase a drink from Level 1 and bring it up with you.
