Speed Dating MC Duncan with bell ringer Ross
We were told to expect hard-hitting questions, real answers, and plenty of community input with Duncan Garner moderating a lively debate with Invercargill’s mayoral hopefuls - and The Great Debate, held on 19th August delivered as expected.
The Club supported the Southland Business Chamber with their 'The Great Debate' event on 19th August with volunteers on the ground, assisting with various tasks.
The Candidate Speed Dating session kicked off the evening, offering attendees a chance to meet Invercargill City Council candidates face-to-face in a small group, in a set time format before Mayoral candidates took to the stage for the main debate event.
The Rotary Club of Invercargill has had a long tradition of supporting and promoting the importance of voting in both local and general elections.
Over the years the Club has co-ordinated a number of events including meet the candidates, candidates Q & A's and debates.
This 2025 community collaboration follows on from the 2023 collaboration with the Southland Business Chamber on a “Meet the Candidates” evening for the public to hear from Invercargill Electorate candidates standing in the October General Election.
