Show your support in purple on Friday 20th November

A local Rotary campaign to raise awareness of domestic and family violence was launched in Invercargill on Friday 23rd October, with Past District Governor Dave McKissock at the forefront.

The campaign focuses on prevention and awareness, challenging behaviours that are not acceptable and promoting relationships built on respect, equality, safety and kindness.

The campaign began in Ballina, New South Wales, in 2018 and has since expanded across Australia and New Zealand.

People are invited to show their support by wearing purple on the third Friday of each month.

A community walk through central Invercargill is also being organised for 5 December 2026.

How can you show your support? Wear something purple on the next third Friday, 20th November. You can also help by starting a conversation: share the campaign with your family, friends and work colleagues.

Official Rotary Say No purple T-shirts are available for $27. To order, contact Dave McKissock on 021 670121 or email dave.rotary9999@gmail.com.

Mark your calendar for Saturday 5th December and join members of our community as we walk together against domestic and family violence.
