The follow-on project from the Rotary Dream Home, to establish two units for the Breathing Space Southland Trust (BSST) continues to progress.
Following the sale of the Rotary Dream Home in 2018, a committee made up of representatives of each Rotary club have been working on the follow-on project to establish two self-contained units for Breathing Space.
Rotary has arranged a 10 year "peppercorn" lease for the Conyers St section, on its own title.
The Breathing Space Southland Trust (BSST) was set up in 2013 to provide short term (maximum 7nights) emergency accommodation with connections to wrap-a-round support / programmes for those who meet the referral criteria.
Each of the 5 Rotary Clubs, lead by their project committee member, are working on different aspects of the final stages to completion of the units
Club Member Ross has been co-oridnating hands-on our Club’s latest contribution to the project, construction of decks for both units. Steps to the decks are next on the list.
The fencing has now gone up that will offer privacy to the residents using the units.
Pathways in to each of the units are now done.
Landscaping is the next focus with bark chips expected to arrive on site in coming week.
If you want to be involved, can lend a hand for a few hours to this project - please contact Ross to discuss what and when 021 333 363.
