President Michael confirming our Club’s support for “Cans for a Cause” to DG Dave.
Families across New Zealand are struggling to put enough food on the table for their whānau. The number of New Zealanders needing to access food banks has dramatically increased with the cost-of-living crisis.
Food banks across New Zealand are under increasing pressure, our own local community food banks need support.
Rotary Clubs across New Zealand are uniting as people of action in a coordinated, nationwide campaign – "Cans for a
Cause", with the aim to collect 1 million cans or non-perishable food items between 9 -16 June 2025.
DG Dave visited with the Club on 6th May, and shared the collaboration that is underway with President Michael and the other local Rotary Clubs to and connect with community partners and work together to get as many cans as we can.
All ”Cans for a Cause” food collected locally will be counted locally and added to the other local totals to get a national total with the goal to get a total of 1 million cans.
All food collected locally will be distributed to local food banks.
Members can get involved by helping to collect cans from the community drop off points and donating directly.
