It's all go for the Omaui Project!
Good evening Club Members,
I trust everyone is well and is enjoying the excitement in our city as the many participants and visitors to the Burt Munro Challenge support our retail shops and eat at our restaurants. It is great to see so many people out and about!
I hope you all had a good Waitangi day - either taking it easy or coming together with family and friends. I was lucky to be part of the celebrations out at Te Rau Aroha Marae in Bluff in the morning. It was a very special occasion and wonderful to see our regional leaders at the Marae.
Later that afternoon I went out to Omaui Camp with Lisa-Maree, Karl and their two lovely daughters, Graeme and Flo and my wonderful husband Asi. We traversed the camp site to scope the extent of our involvement in building the tracks and reinstating the ponds. The plan is coming together and we'll have some costings and a project plan devised shortly. We will keep you updated as we start developing our plan of action.
There is quite a bit on, in the world of Rotary including;
- Hawthorndale Dementia Care are hosting Rotarians on Wednesday 21 February starting at 5:30pm followed by a BBQ tea. The tours will take place in groups of 10 and it would be great to have members of our club present as well. If you can make it, please let me know as we need to confirm numbers to them.
- Drive A Dream hosted by the Rotary Club of Invercargill East will be held on Sunday 25 February 2024 at Teratonga Park. More details are in the poster below
- The Rotary Day of action - our combined Rotary activity is scheduled to be held on Saturday 23 March. Further details will be shared once we have them from DGE Dave McKissock
- South Island Conference - Lisa-Maree has been able to get us a special rate at Ashford Motor Lodge for those of us attending the conference on 20 April 2024. You can read the full details here.
- Last but not least, our 100th Anniversary Dinner will be on Saturday 24 February. Please ensure you have confirmed attendance either online or to Helen Cook directly. It promises to be a great night of celebrations!
