The inaugural Rotary South Island Conference

Kia ora club members,

What a wonderful experience I had at the inaugural South Island Rotary Conference last weekend, where I heard some amazing speakers share their stories with us. I found the conference informative and fun. Great Speakers and amazing fellowship with fellow Rotarians from across the South Island - a perfect weekend actually! Thank you Lisa-Maree, Ross, Helen M and Alice for your time and friendship smiley

Rotary International Past President Jennifer Jones was the crowd puller and it was just phenomenal to hear of her year as the Rotary International President. I think she mentioned that she had visited over 50 countries across the world as the ambassador for Rotary International and has carried out some hands on projects as well. She is committed to eradicating polio from the world and continues to work tirelessly for this cause.

But we also had two other amazing speakers, Adele O'Keefe and Matt Chisholm. I was engaged and enthralled with Matt's story as he included a great deal of humour to what is a sinister topic. Adele is a true inspiration! Having gone through so much adversity, she has come out on top, as a proud wahine. You can read more about the conference in the story below.

Omaui Environmental Education Project
A reminder that we will have another working bee for Omaui on 04 May 2024. The work on this round will be easier on the body as we anticipate to be planting trees than shovelling walk-ways!
