Kia ora club members,
Its been a busy week for the club with us having the Director's meeting on Monday, the Club Forum on Tuesday, the working bee at Omaui tomorrow and some of us will be getting ready to welcome Lincoln billets next week.
The Director's discussed quite a few agenda items and approved:
- Donation of 20 ILT Kidzone tickets at a cost of $420, with the tickets to be distributed equally between Parent to Parent and Family Works.
- $4,0000 donation to Rotary Foundation
- Annual Donations: $500 each to
- Salvation Army
- Ronald McDonald Family Room
- Otago/Southland Rescue Helicopter Trust
Circus Quirkus
We also have dates for Circus Quirkus which will be held on 14 May 2024. We have been proudly partnering with Circus Quirkus, since 2003, to bring their non-animal circus spectacular to Invercargill. The show provides fun & entertainment for selected families and is a successful fundraiser for our Club. We continue to receive positive feedback for the sponsored tickets distributed to community organisations to allocate to selected families.
Members of the club volunteer to assist with ushering on the evening of the show. This years show will be held again at the Civic Theatre. If you would like to be involved in being an usher on the night – please contact Stephen O’Connor.
Omaui Environmental Education Project
Our first project for our 100th year is well underway supporting the YMCA to create an outdoor classroom for environmental education at Omaui. Our main focus for this project currently is on the 300+ metres of walking tracks around/to and from the pond, which is done by laying of gravel on top of weed mat.
Working Bee # 2 is all go for tomorrow (Saturday 13th April.)
Tasks include:
-Laying weedmat
- Shovelling gravel into wheelbarrows
- Moving gravel by wheelbarrow to tracks
- Raking gravel into place.
184 metres of track has now been confirmed as completed to date with only 133 metres remaining to do.
Start time on tomorrow (13th April) is 10.30am. Everyone is welcome to come and join in for the time they are available on the day. Please bring a wheelbarrow, shovel and rake if you have one available.
