PSS CE Matt Russell, Guest Speaker 19.11.24
Last weekend I spent in Dunedin at a Rotary information session which was designed for "President elects," however it was very valuable for me being a new president and I should have participated in this 12 months ago if I had known I would now be president 🙂.
I met some very nice Rotarian's and knowledgeable facilitators, and it was great to hear about other clubs, share ideas and network. I recommend this course to anyone wanting a better understanding of Rotary processes and how to get the most from what was available.
On Tuesday Matt Russell from the Presbyterian Support Services (PSS) spoke to us on the incredible work they do in the age care space, and the challenges we face as a country with our aging population and lower taxpayer base. It is great to see that the PSS are continuing to invest in their facilities and grow capacity.
At my changeover presentation I made mention of exploring options for our club to support the aged care community (Matts presentation was very timely) and I look forward to any ideas members may have and discussions around these.
On Friday night we had a fun social gathering at Lisa-Maree and Karl's place where we participated in a potluck BBQ tea in true Southland style and enjoyed wonderful food, drinks and conversation.
Finally, from me, we have no lunchtime meeting on Tuesday the 26th instead a Santa parade float working bee is planned for 5.30pm at 360 West Plains road which includes a Fish and Chip tea.
Please RSVP to Ross Wensley (Ph 021333363) if you can make it please or need more information.
Have a lovely weekend.
Michael
