Changeover Complete, Congrats & Thanks to Chami
Dear members.
This is my very first message in our bulletin as your new president and I hope this finds you all safe and well.
What an amazing event our Melbourne cup theme "Changeover" turned out to be whether you are a race fan or not it was a lot of fun and maybe an event we could make a regular occurrence.
A special thankyou has to go out to Hayley and the staff at the Kelvin Hotel who decorated the venue in authentic race regalia and kept the evening flowing and to Janna for helping out with RSVPs and the reception desk as guests arrived.
We had guests from other Rotary clubs and it was nice to see them enjoying the event.
The live streaming of the race on the big screen added excitement for those that put bets on at the TAB downstairs (Graeme and Marlys) and the sweepstake that SOC organised saw Chami's horse win and mine come in second, all by pure chance but some what symbolic of the changeover event.
There were amazing fascinators worn by the ladies and everyone made an effort to get into the Melbourne cup race dress code theme.
Chami gave her speech on what has been achieved by the club and members over her time as president which was significant and Lisa-Maree gave a presentation on the 100 year heritage of our club which made me proud to be a member. Chami you have been an amazing president and thank you very much for your contribution over the past 16 months.
DG Dave gave a brief presentation and finally Chami handed over the chains which signified my start as President.
In my speech I outlined what I saw as the focus for the club in the year ahead and I hope this resonated well with the members.
I am humbled and proud to be your new president and look forward to working and socialising with you all and also collaborating on old and new initiatives that members feel would benefit the club and community we live in.
Thank you to everyone for attending "Changeover" and making it a memorable one.
Have a nice weekend everyone.
Michael
