The countdown is on as we head toward King’s Birthday weekend and the Book Sale.

By all accounts we have a record number of good quality books being sorted and shifted and my thanks to the book sale committee and all of the club members who have pitched in so far to make this a success.
Giving your time at the book sale can be very rewarding and we meet so many nice people from all over Southland buying books for a good read knowing that their money goes towards a charitable cause.
A request has been circulated to all members asking if you can spare any time over Kings birthday weekend to help out, if you missed this email, please get in contact with Stephen O'Connor with the times you are available.
As previously mentioned, with proceeds from the book sale this year we will be supporting the "Jubilee Budget Advisory service" in Invercargill, who do a fantastic job helping with all types of services in our community for individuals, couples and families in need of advice and support. Below is a link for you to check out what services they offer.

At our last meeting we had the pleasure of hosting Krista Farley from Youthline Southland who spoke about the incredible voluntary caring work that goes on to support vulnerable young people in our community. The demand for this service continues to grow sadly but is a valuable asset for our community and thank you Krista for all of the work that you and your volunteers do. Youthline in the past has been a recipient of the book sale proceeds.

Thankyou DG Dave for attending our luncheon also and giving us a presentation on the "Cans for a cause campaign" which is moving forward.  All food collected over the week will be given to the local food banks to benefit those in need in Southland. This is a worthy cause, and businesses are being approached now to see if they wish to patriciate.
We will need club volunteers to collect from the assigned businesses that are collaborating in this campaign from the 9th to the 16th of June and if you would like to be involved and help, please give me a call.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

All the best.
Michael
