On Friday, 28 August, members, along with family and friends, braved the cold to support the Cancer Society’s iconic fundraising event, Daffodil Day.
Despite the chilly conditions, spirits were high at our collection site, Ascot 4 Square on Tay Street. From 8am to 6pm, volunteers rotated through shifts, welcoming donors throughout the day.
Our club’s relationship with the Cancer Society spans many years. We have proudly supported Relay for Life, contributed through ongoing Daffodil Day collections, and in 2019 the Society was a major recipient of proceeds from our annual Book Sale.
Funds raised on Daffodil Day help provide vital services to cancer patients and their whānau, including free transport to treatment, specialist nursing and psychological support, and accommodation for families receiving care far from home. Every daffodil sold and every dollar donated supports the 1 in 3 New Zealanders affected by cancer.
If you missed the chance to donate on the day, it’s not too late. Contributions to the Daffodil Day 2026 appeal are still welcomed and can be made online via the Cancer Society’s official donation page.
