Dozens of Daffodils at start of the day

On Friday, 29th August, members, along with family, friends, and work colleagues, braved the winter weather conditions to support the Cancer Society’s iconic fundraising event—Daffodil Day.

Despite the chilly conditions, spirits were high at our chosen collection site: Ascot 4 Square, Tay Street. From 8am to 6pm, volunteers rotated through shifts, greeting donors with a smile. Thanks to Community Club Director Helen Cook, who coordinated the volunteers roster.

Our club’s relationship with the Cancer Society spans many years, including support for Relay for Life events, ongoing Daffodil Day collections, and being a major recipient of a major donation from our 2019 Book Sale proceeds.

Funds raised on Daffodil Day help provide vital services to cancer patients and their whānau—from free transport to treatment, to specialist nursing and psychological support, and accommodation for those receiving care far from home.

Every daffodil sold and every dollar donated supports the 1 in 3 affected by cancer in NZ.

If you missed the chance to donate on the day, it’s not too late. Contributions to the Daffodil Day 2025 appeal are still welcomed and can be made online via the Cancer Society’s official donation page.

Thank you to everyone who supported making this year's Daffodil Day a blooming success.
