On Tuesday 23 June, members, partners and representatives from the Sunrise and South Rotary Clubs came together for an enjoyable evening of nibbles, drinks and fellowship.
Changeover is a special moment in the Rotary calendar: a time to reflect on the year that has been, celebrate the people and projects that shaped it. The tradition marks the handover of responsibility and the change in leadership.
Outgoing President Michael reflected on the past 12 months, acknowledging the Club’s projects and achievements. He presented a floral acknowledgement to Club Director Trish Lindsay in appreciation of her work coordinating the Guest Speaker programme. Club member Ross Wensley was awarded the new Service Above Self Award, introduced by President Michael in 2025.
After 19 months as Club President, Michael handed over the chains of office to Past Presidents Helen McCurdy and Richard Russell, who will share the leadership of the Club for the coming Rotary year.
Helen and Richard each spoke about the planning already underway, setting an optimistic tone for the New Rotary year ahead.
President Helen will chair the first meeting of the New Rotary year on Tuesday 14th July - with guest speaker Kelvin Mooney, Centre Manager for Invercargill Central Ltd.
