From Books to Cans, Cans for a Cause #2 is back with can collection happening between 1st to 8th June 2026 .
Rotary Cans for a Cause is national community response to the growing pressure Food banks across New Zealand are facing.
Families across New Zealand are struggling to put enough food on the table for their whānau. The number of New Zealanders needing to access food banks has dramatically increased with the cost-of-living crisis.
All five Rotary Districts in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands are participating in the 2nd Cans for a Cause Campaign with Clubs working together on this campaign, engaging to support local food banks, the Salvation Army and Kiwi Harvest.
The food items most in need are :
- Canned fish
- Baked Beans and Spaghetti
- Canned veggies
- Canned fruit
- Soup
- Diced tomatoes
- Spreads
- Rice
- Pasta
- Cereal
Please consider adding a can or two to your grocery order over the next week, all donations made in Invercargill will go to Invercargill based Food Banks.
