As per the Book Sale Event update delivered at last week’s Club Forum, by Book Sale Chair Richard Russell, the countdown is now on for the Club’s 45th Book Sale.

The dates and times for the Rotary Club of Invercargill Charitable Trust Book Sale 2026 event are:

Thursday, May 29th: 8am to 7pm

Friday, May 30th: 8am to 7pm

Saturday, May 31st: 9am to 5pm

The major recipient for the 2026 event is now able to be confirmed to be Ngā Kete Mātauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust. 

Book Drop-offs / Pickups

The Garage / Service Stations drop off points are finalized now with the pickups scheduled to get underway from this week.   

Thank you to the members who are assisting with pickups from garages.  

The list of Service Stations where books can be dropped off for the 2026 Book Sale through to Friday 22nd May are:

Southern Service Station Ltd. 298 Elles Rd, Invercargill
Northern Auto Services (Mobil). Cnr Sydney & St Andrews Streets,
Lorneville Motors Challenge. Cnr SH 6 & SH 99, Invercargill
Wallacetown Motors. 49 Dalry St, Wallacetown, Invercargill
Riverton Automotive Centre Ltd. 105 Palmerston St, Riverton 

Noting Waitomo Tay Street is not able to be a drop off point this year due to site renovations. 

Scottish Hall Set Up 

The 2026 event is being held, once again at the Scottish Hall, with the initial set up scheduled for Monday 4th May from 5.30pm – please come along if you can help out for an hour with trestle tables set up and positioning etc.

Books are proposed to be transferred from the storage container to the Scottish hall with the assistance of the Demons Softball Club on Saturday 9th May between 10am and 12noon if you are available, have a trailer, happy to help out – please let Lisa-Maree know on 027 2304 611.

Book Sorting Lunch 

In lieu of a Tuesday lunch meeting the week of the Book Sale, as has been tradition, Tuesday 26th May is the Book Sale 'Final Set Up / Sorting' Lunch Meeting. 

Lunch, catered by Inner Wheel, is scheduled for 12.15pm.  Members are asked to come as they can to help with setting out and displaying books in categories on tables before or after lunch. 

Roster 

Stephen O’Connor is coordinating the roster for member support during the 3 days.
