Paul Harris Award:
President Kieran presented a Paul Harris Award to Lesley Gray for her contribution to our community last week.
Lesley is a retired registered General & Obstetric Nurse, with a certificate of Social Work from the University of Otago.  In her later paid career she was Co-ordinator Support Services & Health Promotion for the Southland Office Otago/Southland Cancer Society and prior to that Manager of Staff Development & Education Unit for the Southland Area Health Board.  Lesley was part of the group that established and operated the Invercargill Branch of Family Planning.
Lesley undertook a number of voluntary roles across our community including Co-ordinator for the office of Senior Citizens and her community connection with Seniors progressed with her involvement as a supporter and tutor at SeniorNet South, assisting with driving courses tailored for Seniors with Road Safety Southland.

Lesley was an appointed member of the SDHB Community Council, an advisory council for the SDHB and Well South Primary Health Network (hospital and community health services including GPs) set up to enable a stronger patient voice to be heard across the Southern district.

Lesley initiated a group - Seniors Celebrate that organised and co-ordinated the Have a Go Day(s), Community Sing-a-Long(s), International Day of the Older Persons Invercargill events and other projects targeted at Seniors.

Lesley has also been involved in many other aspects of community service through her involvement with Inner Wheel, Art Society, Meals on Wheels, U3A, Probus & much more.

The Paul Harris Award was scheduled to be presented last year but due to circumstances and timing it was presented in person by President Kieran to Lesley outside of a Rotary Meeting when Lesley's Auckland based daughter, Robyn, was visiting.

Lesley, and husband Colin have been invited to attend an upcoming meeting.
