Anna came to Aotearoa in 2006 from Wales UK, on a scholarship.
Now a New Zealand citizen with a PhD from Otago University Anna will share about her 2019 experience in Providence, Rhode Island, USA for a four month research project into local food security and sovereignty on a Fulbright Scholarship.

In this powerfully moving talk, Nic shares deep personal insights into what grief has taught her about resilience, compassion and empathy. Nic Russell’s life changed forever when she and her three-year-old daughter Kenzie were diagnosed with aggressive cancers in the same year. Sadly Kenzie died, while surgery and chemotherapy put Nic on the road to recovery. Fifteen years on, life has thrown more challenges her way; repeat corrective
surgery, cardiomyopathy and Parkinson’s.
Through all the tragedy and tears, pain and loss has come lessons in how to defy adversity.
