Member contribution - TEDx talk video - shared by Leon Hartnett

TEDxInvercargillLive 2020.

Nic Russell is the founder of  which supports children, young people and families affected by serious illness or bereavement. In this powerfully moving talk, Nic shares deep personal insights into what grief has taught her about resilience, compassion and empathy. Nic Russell’s life changed forever when she and her three-year-old daughter Kenzie were diagnosed with aggressive cancers in the same year. Sadly Kenzie died, while surgery and chemotherapy put Nic on the road to recovery. Fifteen years on, life has thrown more challenges her way; repeat corrective
surgery, cardiomyopathy and Parkinson’s.

Through all the tragedy and tears, pain and loss has come lessons in how to defy adversity.

This talk was given at the TEDx Invercargill Live event using the TED conference format but independently organized.  Click the link to watch the video.
