There's plenty of reasons to smile after reaching a great fundraising target.

Club president-elect Chami presented Club treasurer Stephen with a cheque for $4500 on December 6 to transfer to Zone 8's Centenary Project.

Chami spoke about how the target of $4500 was reached after two years of fundraising. She set a goal to raise enough money for 100 vaccines, that cost $45 each, before our Club reached its 100th anniversary in 2024.

The Rotary "Give Every Child A Future" is a project to celebrate 100 years of service, and in collaboration with UNICEF, plans to vaccinate the most disadvantaged children and adolescent girls across the Pacific.

It has an overarching goal to vaccinate 100,000 children across nine Pacific Island countries. Doing this will protect future generations of children and help to strengthen local immunisation programmes to prevent child mortality.  The vaccines are for rotavirus, pneumococcal disease and cervical cancer.

This project covers two core focus areas of Rotary: saving mothers and children, and fighting disease.
