By golly, that's Good Guise!

Julie presenting at the lunch meeting on Tuesday

Kia ora club members,

I was gutted that I wasn't able to get to the lunch meeting this week, which was due to an emergency that needed my full and undivided attention!

However, I understand that Julie Guise gave our members a maiden public speech, and was by all accounts outstanding!  It seems that those present learnt about the nutritional benefits of Paneer - the Indian cottage cheese which is made down here in Southland using fresh milk from the Guise's family farm. Paneer has a 5-Star health rating and is a versatile ingredient that is a staple in most Indian homes. While Julie elaborated on how the business goes about connecting communities, challenges the norm and creates a legacy, Rotarians at the meeting were also able to sample their delicious produce. Lucky!

This weekend is a bit of a rest for most of us from community projects. However, I would like to say a very big thank you to Robbie Fleck, friend of Rotary (and Father of Lisa-Maree) for all the work he has done to support Ross with building the decks out at the Breathing Space Units at Conyers Street. Ross, thank you for spearheading this project and working tirelessly with our club members and friends to get this project complete. There is more information on the progress below.

Omaui is also shaping up nicely. We have completed the walkways last weekend, and also planted about 50 native plants. The work is progressing really well, and possibly one more working bee to complete the project. You can read more about this below as well.

Club members that are helping with Circus Quirkus on Tuesday 14 May have now been contacted with a time and meeting point for the event.

And on a final note, the book sale is progressing well with books coming in thick and fast! Richard and the team have done so well to get the Scottish Hall set-up and sorting is well underway. There has been good publicity of the event and good response to our request for books. It looks like we will continue to be busy in May laugh

Celebrate Mother's Day in style everyone, and have a lovely weekend.
