The first District Conference 9999 will be held in Oamaru during the weekend of Friday, March 24 to Sunday, March 26, 2023.
Governor Elect Jan Boustead extends an invitation to all Rotarians to attend, which will be held in the Oamaru Opera House. The conference team has been planning it for some months now, and in partnership with the Rotary Club of Oamaru, are in the final stage of arranging an interesting programme.
The conference theme will be “Imagine: Embracing diversity" showcasing vibrant young leaders from our community and encourage fresh perspectives, to lead us on into our bright new future as district 9999.

During the weekend there will be an opportunity to explore the old area of Oamaru, visit places of historical interest, visit one of only two castles in the South Island, a motor workshop, a working dairy farm, as well as the quarry that supplied the limestone blocks that feature in many of the buildings in Oamaru.
All motels and hotels in Oamaru have been advised of the forthcoming conference have advised a “Conference Rate” for the weekend for bookings made directly with the them. The conference rate does not apply if through agencies like Booking Dot Com and / or similar booking sites.
Now that the Government have advised the borders will re-open in July 2022 we would encourage you to make bookings now.
The “Alps to the Ocean Cycle Trail” finishes in Oamaru and moteliers have indicated that they are expecting to take bookings for March shortly.
